When it comes to caregiving, happiness may seem absent or fleeting. Our CEO Sherri Snelling has interviewed numerous caregivers who express gratitude or feelings of peacefulness and honor in caring for a loved one but not a lot mentioned happiness. Yet, as Sherri found in the caring of her own father the last two years of his life, there are silver linings to caregiving.

On August 8, we celebrate “National Happiness Happens Day.” Sherri writes in her book, A Cast of Caregivers – Celebrity Stories to Help You Prepare to Care, about the “pursuit of happyness” using the borrowed line from movie with the same title about Chris Gardner’s life from homeless man to successful stockbroker. And she believes, as our Me Time Monday video below shares, that one way to happiness is “a warm puppy.”
