National Travel Week, Mental Health Month, Older Americans Month and Celebrating Moms

Sherri Snelling, corporate gerontologist and “Caregiving Club On Air” podcast host, celebrates May’s Older Americans Month and National Travel Week May 7-13 with her guests for this episode – Co-Founders Jay Wei and Tricia Norton from Discover Live, a virtual travel company. Jay and Tricia will talk about this new trend in travel to help engage our older loved ones but really for anyone of any age to experience and enjoy.

Caregiver Wellness News

Sherri shares insights on resources and new research on mental health that we bring awareness to in May including the new national mental health emergency helpline 988. She also talks about caring for Moms in celebration of Mother’s Day.

Also – we remind our listeners and followers of a great episode from Season 2 for May’s Mental Health Awareness Month . Sherri talked to Joan Neehall, author of Happy is the New Healthy on Season 2, Episode 1.

Well Home Design News

Sherri returns to the travel theme but focuses on how caregivers can get a respite break and travel and what is trending in self-care and wellness travel. As well, she’ll touch upon respitality – a service for caregivers to have older loved ones stay at an assisted living community while you travel for business or with family and friends..

Sherri mentions her great interview with Dr. Esther Sternberg, author of Healing Spaces who shared a personal caregiving story during the Season 2, Episode 5 interview. It was about traveling to Greece after the death of her mother and is a perfect story for finding solace and escapes for caregivers. Dr. Sternberg is Director of the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine and Director of the UArizona Institute on Place, Wellbeing & Performance.

Me Time Monday Wellness Hack

As always, we end our episode with our Me Time Monday Wellness Hack. This episode we focus on May Mental Health Awareness Month with an interesting tool for addressing anxiety and building resilency: daydreaming. The Me Time Monday Wellness hacks are all part of Sherri’s upcoming book, “Me Time Monday – The Weekly Wellness Plan to Find Balance and Joy for a Busy Life.”
