Sherri Snelling, corporate gerontologist and “Caregiving Club On Air” podcast host, kicks off National Sandwich Generation Month in July with her interview with Alexandra Drane, co-founder and CEO of ARCHANGELS. They discuss mental and emotional health of caregivers and ARCHANGEL’s tool, the Caregiver Intensity Index, to help family caregivers understand where they score on the burnout scale.

Sherri shares the latest research from her book, Me Time Monday – The Weekly Wellness Plan to Find Balance and Joy for a Busy Life which includes forest bathing. National Forest Week is July 10-16 and since it is also July National Self-Care Month, Sherri shares information about how to find these immersive nature experiences and how they help your health and wellness. Sherri also shares information about Richard Lui’s new caregiving documentary for PBS, Unconditional, about the emotional health of caregiving. Richard appeared on our podcast in Season 1, Episode 2 talking about his other documentary on young caregivers of military parents and grandparents, Sky Blossom and his new book on caregiving for his father with Alzheimer’s.

Sherri also sends a shout-out of Happy Birthday wishes to Norman Lear, TV showrunner icon who is still going strong at 100. Mr. Lear turns 101 on July 27 and Sherri shares her time with Norman and his link to the Declaration of Independence for this July 4.
