Sherri Snelling, corporate gerontologist and “Caregiving Club On Air” podcast host, talks to two great guests in this episode: Dani Klein Modisett, founder and CEO of Laughter on Call, and Lisa Rehburg, president of Rehburg Life Settlements.

Dani will talk about the healing art of laughter and how she has changed lives for those with dementia as well as for employees and other groups. Featured in Sherri’s new book, Me Time Monday, laughter is part of our social glue and Social Wellness part of our celebration of National Emotional Health Month.

Lisa will provide information on how to value your life insurance policy as you age and whether to consider selling it or holding on to it – part of the Financial Wellness that Sherri features in her book and part of our recognition of National Long-Term Care Financial Planning Month.

For Emotional Health Month Sherri shares insights from the Emotional Wellness chapters of her new book, Me Time Monday – The Weekly Wellness Plan to Find Balance and Joy for a Busy Life. She explains the difference between mental and emotional health and how emotional frequencies and energy are growing new areas of science called vibrational medicine.

We also recognized October 6 which is World Smile Day and the many wellness benefits of getting your quota of smiles in for the day. And on October 13 we recognize World Vision Day and National Train Your Brain Day where Sherri shares information on how vision health is crucial for diagnosing chronic illness such as diabetes and Alzheimer’s. And for Active Aging Week October 3-9, Sherri shares a new workout based on boosting your joy score (and it only takes 7 minutes a day!)

With fall comes beautiful autumn leaves but how do you keep your home environment “well” which requires bringing some greenery inside? Sherri shares information from her Me Time Monday book about air care and how these five houseplants oxygenate rooms in the home, and can help detoxify your home:

Sherri also highlights October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month with the message to “Think Pink.” And when it comes to the insomnia that many breast cancer patients experience during chemotherapy treatments (or for anyone suffering from insomnia) Sherri explains the brain’s connection to pink noise as an alternative to pharmaceutical sleep aids.
