I spoke to Kelly Conway, daughter of iconic comedian, Tim Conway, on her new book “My Dad’s Funnier Than Your Dad.” Kelly spoke about growing up with a Hollywood star that placed a priority on being dad to his six children. Later in life, Kelly faced challenges with her stepmom on caring for her dad the last years of his life. You can listen to my podcast interview with Kelly or read my article on PBS Next Avenue.
Remembering Gail Sheehy
The passing of Gail Sheehy in 2020, renowned author and aging’s anthropologist, brought together three women who bonded over her friendship and mentorship, her brilliant writing, her love of dogs (CiJi and I have the same breed as Gail had – our beloved Cavalier King Charles Spaniels) and her sassy yet sophisticated style.
I was honored to join Mary Furlong, serial entrepreneur and thought leader in longevity investing who was a dear friend to Gail, and CiJi Ware, a noted novelist and author who was a longtime friend of Gail from their early days as reporters in New York City . For me, Gail was a mentor and guide on how to think about writing, how to observe human behavior, how to love and live passionately and how to find the perfect color leather jacket! Our love for our Cavs, jazz and literary Paris are memories I will cherish. Knowing Gail, the first thing she did when she arrived in heaven was to interview God! For anyone who has not read her seminal book, Passages, you are missing a guide to life. RIP Gail and know you left so many your gifts and we’re grateful.
