Honoring our Vets & Military Families – November 11 Veteran’s Day

Every year we honor our veterans – their service and their sacrifices, including the service and sacrifices of our military families – who provide peace and freedom for all Americans.  We love this quote from one soldier, “Some sell the dream, some live the dream, but the special ones defend the dream.”

That is why on the Friday before Veteran’s Day (Nov 11) we wear red in honor of R.E.D. Friday (Remembering Those Deployed).

This year we showcase one of our favorite organizations – Blue Star SeniorTech. They sell aging tech at a discount to help all caregivers with an added bonus: all purchases also benefit veteran’s organizations who provide support for our military families.

Did you know?

This year on November 11 we mark the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I. Veteran’s Day was established after this horrific war – known as the “war to end all wars” – when a peace treaty was signed at Versailles, Paris on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month between the Allied Forces and Germany. Thus, November 11, will forever be the day we honor those brave soldiers, sailors, marines, air force and other military from that war and every war since.

We know that 10 million Americans are providing care for a veteran – and 7 million of these caregivers are veterans themselves. Caregiving Club recognizes your special caregiving duties on this day (and every day) and thanks you for being our “heroes on the homefront.”

In addition, the Elizabeth Dole Foundation in partnership with the Rand Corporation published this comprehensive report on caregivers of veterans in
