She also shares the story behind the TED Talk by Candy Chang “Before I Die,” about what really matters in life and how these end-of-life sentiments are universal around the globe.

Pop Culture

Sherri discusses the following movies about loss of loved ones, trying out a respitality stay at an assisted living community and living the dream right up until the last breath:

  • “Bonneville” is a great girlfriend road trip movie that centers around a widow fulfilling her late husband’s last wishes to have his ashes scattered in places they visited during their marriage.
  • “Queen Bees” is the age 70 version of “Mean Girls.” After a widow reluctantly agrees to stay at an assisted living community while her home is repaired from fire damage that she caused, she reluctantly finds new friends and love the second time around.

  • And one for the dads (and the rest of us), the classic “The Bucket List” is about two older men who are meet cute in the hospital battling terminal illnesses and inspire each other to make those “someday” dreams come true. Funny and poignant, as only two actors at the top of their game — Oscar winner Jack Nicholson and Oscar nominated actor Morgan Freeman — can do.

Wellness Home Design News

  • Sherri switches to Well Home Design News with the latest announcement of a collaboration between AARP and Lowes to provide more guidance on aging in place design. She also shares insights about “Peter Pan” homes and how to think about a Livable Home Modification and Maintenance Plan as you age.

Me Time Monday Wellness Hack

Sherri ends each podcast episode with a special wellness hack from her upcoming book, Me Time Monday – Weekly Wellness for a Wonderful Life. For this episode’s hack for the holiday season, Sherri turns to a classic Christmas movie for the Me Time Monday Wellness Hack: “7 Lessons for Caregivers from ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ and How to Create a Social Convoy Model.”
