Wellness is driving innovation in retirement living

Sherri recently interviewed Steve Nygren of Serenbe (for both this article and the Season 2, Episode 11 of our “Caregiving Club On Air” podcast) as well as Michael Hudgen of Disney’s new Storyliving communities, Dwayne Clark who pioneered wellness in assisted living and memory care with Aegis Living, and others for this look into how the senior living industry is innovating to attract aging baby boomers and millennials (the oldest of whom turn 50 in 8 years). A new kind of 55+ community is wooing residents with wellness, nature and cultural connections – Marketwatch

Serenbe markets itself as a wellness community using biophilic design. Also called “agrihoods,” these multigenerational communities are on the rise nationwide.

Disney’s first Storyliving community called Cotino captures the mid-century culture of Rancho Mirage, California – opening in 2023. The Palm Springs area where was Walt Disney had a vacation home and he called it his “laughing place.”

Aegis Gardens integrates Asian cultural design, cuisine and activities into this community. Each community is designed to embrace the cultural heritage of the area and residents.
